ABEL 2006 Controller
 | Discover ABEL 2006 | ABEL 2006 is a general distributed digital IO system suitable for use in the uplink facilities, satellite M&C systems and other communication facilities. The device is suitably mounted in the 19" rack enclosure. The device also includes power amplifier blanking electronics, often used with uplink stations. Multiple ABEL 2006 devices can be stacked and connected to the computer via CAN interface (default), LAN or serial port interface. | | | | ABEL 2006 is a perfect hardware support for: | Visionic FrontLine | | M&C system for small and medium uplinks, VSATs, flyaway stations and receive stations | | General features: • Distributed digital IO system • Different basic models with single or dual power supply • Integrated power-amplifier blanking electronics • Inputs: 64, 128 or 256 opto-isolated 24V digital inputs • Outputs: 32, 64 or 128 relay Type-A outputs • Solid state or mechanical relay outputs • Power supply 100-230V 50/60 Hz • Integrated single or double power supply • Interfacing via CAN, serial or LAN • Full support for ABEL 2006 in Visionic • Power consumption: 20W (typical) ▪Digital inputs and outputs
Depending on the model, the ABEL 2006 device can have from one to 6 modules inside; each module provides 64 opto-isolated inputs and 32 high-power outputs.
The inputs are opto-isolated and suitable for any DC input up to 35V DC.
The outputs are originally high-power MOS relay Type-A outputs, rated at 1A @ 28V. These solid-state outputs are also over-current protected. |

 | The built-in solid-state outputs are suitable for driving any standard type of RF and microwave switches. As an option for the highest-power output, the ABEL 2006 device can be delivered with electro-mechanical type-A relays. With this option, the maximal rated current is 2A @ 110V per output.
The ABEL 2006 device is fitted with one 24V / 2.5Amp power supply. The dual-power supply option allows uninterrupted run of the device. | ▪Power amplifier blanking electronics The ABEL 2006 has been planned from the start to be the digital IO controller for the Earth satellite stations. As the complexity of the stations is going up, the ABEL 2006 devices provide additional functionality.
One of these functions is the HPA blanking. In the uplink stations, it is often necessary to "blank" the output (e.g. cut the RF power) of the amplifier if a RF switch in the output path is stuck.
This functionality is provided by ABEL 2006 out of the box. Using switch' blanking contacts, the ABEL 2006 contains static map table; thus blanking certain HPAs when one or more switches are stuck. The table is hardwired into the ABEL 2006 and the blanking occurs without any computer interaction. Here is one example of such table: | Switch | HPA1 | HPA2 | HPA3 | | S7 | X | X | X | | S8 | X | X | X | | S9 | - | X | X | | S10 | X | - | X | | AX7 | X | X | X | | AX8 | X | X | X | | SE1 | X | - | - | | SE2 | - | X | - | ▪Interfacing
The default interface of the ABEL 2006 is CAN bus. This standard distributed bus has a lot of advantages over serial lines. The CAN bus has been used in a number of mission-critical applications. Mote information about the CAN bus you can find here. With every purchase of the ABEL 2006, a standard CAN interface PCI card is also included.
The optional interfacing modes include Ethernet (LAN). |

| The EtherCAN device is an optional DIN-rail mountable device that can be used to connect the ABEL 2006 device directly to the LAN
Finally, the SerialCAN device is a transformer between CAN and RS422 interfaces. With this option, ABEL 2006 can be connected via serial lines to the computer.
Regardless of the physical interface used, the ABEL 2006 can be simply "stacked". The single system can hook up to 16x ABEL 2006 devices. | | ABEL 2006 | | | Distributed digital IO system | | | • Size: | 19" rack-mountable, 3U height | | • Digital inputs: | 64 opto-isolated | | • Digital outputs: | 32, solid state relay type-A | | • Digital outputs power: | max 1A DC @ 35V | | • Power supply: | Single, 110-230V | | • Interface: | CAN, optional LAN / Serial | | • HPA blanking electronics: | Up to 16 switches, 8 HPAs max | ▪Technical Support and Warranty ABEL 2006 comes with easy-to-use documentation and two years limited warranty that can be expended to 3 years as an option. |
